In addition to a substantial number of employees at TWI UK who have achieved NAFEMS certification as Professional Simulation Engineers (PSE) (see NAFEMS Certifications Prove TWI Expertise - TWI), additional certification has now been awarded to Kenny Lim Fang Yau with specialisation in Computational Structural Mechanics, Fatigue and Creep at TWI South East Asia (TWI SEA).
Kenny is a senior project engineer in the TWI SEA engineering department who holds an MBA from the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) as well as an MSc and BEng in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Malaysia (UKM). During his time at TWI, he has achieved Professional/Chartered Mechanical Engineer status and has accumulated more than 10 years of professional experience working for world-leading technology companies in offshore and onshore oil and gas and power generation. His current work involves finite element modelling, engineering critical assessment, fitness-for-service, risk-based inspection, root cause analysis, and NDT inspection in accordance with local and international standards.
The PSE certification demonstrates the high standard of international competency that TWI can provide for modelling solutions. This independent, external certification also allows for structured continuous professional development.
Dietmar Kok, regional manager of TWI South East Asia, commented, “Rolling out the PSE certification at TWI South East Asia raises the profile of our engineering services in the region to deliver expert fitness-for-service, fracture, and high-temperature assessments through the use of finite element modelling. The PSE also demonstrates TWI’s commitment to provide integrated engineering services from both the UK headquarters and from across our international subsidiaries. It is a testament to the close working relationship between the TWI HQ near Cambridge and the subsidiaries, paving the way for further close collaboration and subsequent provision of advanced engineering services, also in other regions.”
Tyler London, Technology Fellow in Computational Engineering, added, “We’re delighted for Kenny in obtaining this important certification that demonstrates his continued commitment to providing best-in-class FEA services.”
The NAFEMS PSE certification helps demonstrate the competence and capabilities of our staff in all of these areas and we would like to congratulate Kenny for his achievement.
