TWI has recently introduced an updated version of the BGAS-CSWIP Blaster and Painter programme. The new programme, which consists of three levels (CSWIP Blasting and Painting Operator, CSWIP Blasting and Painting Senior Operator and CSWIP Blasting and Painting Supervisor), not only focusses more on the practical aspects of the training, but it also incorporates more generic standards such as ISO, SSPC as well as NACE into the syllabus, which makes the qualification internationally applicable.
Blue Oceanic Sdn. Bhd (previously known as BOMS) will be TWI’s first official training agent to offer the approved training course of the newly launched CSWIP Blasting and Painting Scheme in Brunei.
Founded in Brunei Darussalam, Blue Oceanic Sdn Bhd is an expert in scaffolding, blasting and painting training and services. TWI and BOMS’ history of collaboration dates back to the year 2014 when BOMS introduced the BGAS-CSWIP sand blasting and painting training and certification to the oil and gas industry in Brunei. From the humble beginnings of the business in Brunei, BOMS now has expanded its operations beyond training to include the delivery of services, material supplies, manpower supplies, inspection and consultation.
Collaborating with TWI, BOMS were the first company in Brunei to introduce sand blasting and painting training to the market and they are still the sole provider of these training courses in the country. Over 4 years, BOMS has successfully trained 520 candidates in various skills, of which 200 have been on blasting and painting skills.
As the business has gradually expanded and the need for up-to-date qualifications is being observed in Brunei, BOMS has been selected to be the first centre to start delivering the training for TWI CL’s recently launched blasting and painting certification scheme.
Unlike in the past, when the training was conducted in direct collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the new blasting and painting training courses are open to the public and anyone who works in this field can attend the training, which will be conducted at BOMS’ training facilities in Kuala Belait.
