The programme combines acclaimed academic and industry experts that assist and support your dissertation research. Taking place at TWI on Granta Park, Cambridge, the home of NSIRC and The Welding Institute.
NSIRC is a unique industrial Masters and PhD engineering facility founded by structural integrity authority TWI, with Brunel University London as the lead academic partner. NSIRC is sponsored by BP, Lloyd's Register and TWI, who support research and understand the global need for developments in safety for the structural integrity field.
This master degree is designed to advance your skills and knowledge, creating a highly-skilled engineer, trained within Industry. Graduates will gain a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice, innovation and technology involved in structural integrity.
Comprising of eight modules and an industry-supported dissertation, the course has been designed for full or part-time students, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) delegates.
In parallel with your degree, you can work towards the internationally recognised Certification Scheme for Welding Inspection Personnel (CSWIP) Plant Inspector Level 2 qualification.

The focus of this MSc programme
This masters degree examines detecting and dealing with defects in structures in order to prevent catastrophic failure. It also focuses on how to assess the implications of a particular defect.
Students will gain a sound understanding of stress analysis, how a structure carries loads, and different aspects relating to damage detection.
