Submerged arc welding (SAW) is an automatic process ideally suited for longitudinal and circumferential butt and fillet welds with almost no restriction on the material thickness provided a suitable joint penetration is adopted.
Materials that can be welded are mainly carbon-manganese steels, low-alloy steels and stainless steels, although the process is capable of welding some non-ferrous materials with judicious choice of electrode filler wire and flux combinations.
TWI has considerable experience in the successful development and qualification of SAW welding procedures for a variety of different applications, across numerous industry sectors.
With three SAW processes from different manufacturers, including two twin-wire, one of which has induction heating capability, TWI has the capability to achieve every possible weld for your project.
