Since Cutech Process Services Philippines Inc. became the new training provider of TWI in the Philippines, the training and examination activities have resumed in the country.
Recently, a batch of seven candidates completed the CSWIP welding inspector course delivered by lecturer Mr. Sulaiman via Zoom and the examination, which took place on 29th and 30th of April was remotely invigilated by the team in Kuala Lumpur. The course was very well received by the candidates and a second round of the same training is scheduled on 9 – 16 August.
The training comprised of six sessions of theory training followed by a one-day practical element for the course. Starting with a week of theory training followed by 1 day of the practical element, the entire course was delivered remotely via Zoom, which provided a flexible and relaxed atmosphere for the students who could attend the class from the comfort of their own homes. It also gave the impression of a one-to-one class where candidates get to interact with the lecturer directly and have the ability to ask their questions and seek clarification on the topics covered in the course.
The students, who were very attentive and engaged with the course, were satisfied with the experience of the online class and were pleased to be able to take a step forward in their career progression path and gain a globally recognised qualification, even with the limitations of the pandemic. The feedback for the training was positive and encouraging:
“Thank you to Cutech for organising the CSWIP 3.1 training in the Philippines especially during this pandemic. The course was online, but the instructor managed to teach us very well and delivered the course perfectly. I have learnt a lot from this course and hopefully will pass the exam and it is going to benefit my career a lot,” Said Hubert Decastro.
Besides the usual face-to-face and online live modes of training, the CSWIP Welding Inspector course is also available in full eLearning format, which is the most convenient option for those who wish to have full flexibility with their time and location. By doing the eLearning, candidates get to complete the theoretical aspect of the course on the TWI Virtual Academy in eLearning format. They then need to attend one session of practical training prior to taking the examination. Access to the eLearning will be for 60 days and candidates may request an extension of their access to the eLearning if needed. This option not only saves candidates time away from work, it can save the cost of training as well as travel expenses for the participants.
