With a history of more than 20 years of presence in Malaysia, TWI continues its commitment to developing a skillful workforce in Malaysia. Under the Future Workers Training Scheme, TWI will be training 60 students in various techniques of NDT. This scheme is delivered in collaboration with Kedah Industrial Skills and Management Development Centre (KISMEC).
The Future Workers Training Scheme is funded by the Human Resource Development Ministry of Malaysia under the Skill Development Fund (PTPK). The programme is six months long with candidates based at TWI for practical skills training and certification for four months. Daily meals as well as accommodation will be provided for the candidates and, by the end of the programme, successful students will receive a job placement by KISMEC with support of TWI. The training focuses on the conventional NDT techniques of Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Interpretation (RI) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
All unemployed Malaysian nationals under the age of 35 with a diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace, welding, maritime, science or other technical related fields are welcome to apply for the next two batches running in 2020. (Other terms and conditions apply).
KISMEC has been operating for more than 27 years with the aim of skill development and training of employees for industry. It has so far successfully trained more than 26,000 people in technical and vocational skills as well as soft skills and management.
TWI has been collaborating with KISMEC since 2017. In March 2020 the memorandum of understanding between the businesses was renewed at KISMEC’s office in Kedah. Fauzi Mohd Kasim attended the MOU signing ceremony on behalf of TWI, which was done in the presence of the KISMEC Managing Director.
With this MOU, TWI will be delivering more training programmes with the internationally recognised CSWIP certification, which will benefit not only the youth of Kedah, but also the industry of the northern state.
KISMEC has the vision of being a centre of excellence for Technical Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) With International Accreditation and Global Recognition. It also aspires to enhance the quality of education for better student outcomes and institutional excellence, raising the quality of graduate employability and reviewing the effectiveness of the programmes to meet the needs of the industry. The collaboration with TWI will assist KISMEC to achieve their mission in reaching their goal.
