On 8th August 2022, an industrial training monitoring visit of vocational college students under the Rintis Programme took place. Mrs. Siti Kamziah binti Kamaruddin the Assistant Director of Industrial Relations Cooperation Unit at BPLTV together with Mr. Muhammad Khairos Azri bin Rosli and Mrs. Salehah binti Deraman one of the teachers at Vocational College Ampangan attended the visit. From TWI Technology, Mr. Asmadi Munawar and Mr. Muhammad Hazim the representatives of the Business Development team were present during the visit.
The purpose of this visit was to observe and evaluate the performance of the students undertaking the training and ensure that students would be able to apply the skills they have learned at school during the course of training. In addition, to discuss the suitable job opportunities that the industry offers the students after graduation.
TWI in collaboration with Vocational Technical Education and Training Division (BPLTV) and Industry Partners through the Rintis Program would place final-year vocational students in the industry. Then students will be trained at TWI for 10 days. This is also called Place and Train. After completing training at TWI, students will be given a CSWIP welding certificate.
This programme can empower the TVET field towards globalization, build a network with industry partners, provide a competent workforce, and increase the marketability of vocational college graduates.

Before starting this program, what was your initial impression of vocational college students?
Jaya Kumar – HR Manager of Sonic Galvanizing (M) Sdn Bhd:
"Before we start this programme, what we were thinking about vocational training was that the students usually get very basic experience and more theoretical knowledge. But now, I can see that they get enough knowledge to start work in the industry. They have gained basic welding knowledge which makes this a good programme."
In your opinion, is this program worth continuing?
"Of course! The programme can be continued because it is a well-structured programme and it also helps the industry to have the young Malaysian workforce.
I would like to thank BPLTV and TWI for introducing such a beautiful initiative where we give the young generation the chance to move from the school straight into industrial training and get absorbed into the job market and further progress in their career".
