In 2018 TWI joined with Lloyd’s Register, one of the world’s leading providers of professional services for engineering and technology, to launch Fullagar Technologies.
Under the banner of Fullagar Technologies Ltd TWI and Lloyd’s Register work together to develop and bring to market innovative new inspection systems, products and services drawing upon the latest industry research from the National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC) alongside TWI’s advanced welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) expertise and Lloyd’s Register’s technical inspection and verification experience.
With a current focus in the area of advanced inspection systems, products so far include BeamAssure, a quality assurance product that independently measures and quantifies electron beams to aid manufacturing, research or maintenance planning, a real-time corrosion sensor for pipelines, and an Acoustic Emission Hydrogen Induced Cracking detection system (AEHIC).
The partnership also looks to the future of digital manufacturing (Industry 4.0) and additive manufacturing and the impact these will have on industry, with the development of new products and services to meet emerging needs.
